CHICAGO – Rivals on the abortion issue should be able to agree on fighting human trafficking, says Renee Pollino, the owner of My Half of the Sky, a social justice coffee shop that employs refugees, those living in poverty and women who have been trafficked.
Ms. Pollino says no matter what side of the fence one is on politically, or religiously we have to come to together to make sure the nation's young girls are protected.
With that goal in mind, she asks Illinois lawmakers to keep the parental notification of abortion law.
Recent polling showed that 58% of Illinois voters who identify as pro-choice support Illinois' Parental Notification of Abortion Law.
Illinois state lawmakers are currently considering legislation that would repeal the current law.
