Obviously Democrat President Biden did not do well in history while in high school because he simply doesn’t understand why our Founding Fathers gave us the wonderful gift of our Bill of Rights and our 2nd Amendment. When he announced his intention to use his executive power to limit the American people’s right to bear arms, he did exactly what our Founding Fathers warned us about. The goal of this piece is to allow our Founding Fathers to defend and explain their gift to us of the Bill of Rights and particularly the 2nd Amendment in their own words. Their explanations are crystal clear and frankly, quite simple and easy to understand. They completely decimate President Biden and the Democrats that want to take away our sacred 2nd Amendment rights.
First let’s let our Founding Fathers explain why we have a Republic with a Bill of Rights that protect our God given rights instead of a pure democracy ruled by men. In just three sentences, they explain that in such a simple way that even a Democrat should be able to understand:
Thomas Jefferson: “A democracy is nothing more than mob rule where 51% of the people may take away the rights of the other 49%”.
Benjamin Franklin: “Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty (a republic) is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote”.
Since Benjamin Franklin kicked off the first defense of our 2nd Amendment, let me share how intensely our Founding Fathers felt about the importance of giving the American people the God given right to defend themselves and their freedom with guns. As you will see, guns are not for hunting, they are to protect our freedom:
George Washington:
- “A free people ought not only be armed and disciplined, but they should have sufficient arms and ammunition to maintain a status of independence from any who might attempt to abuse them, which would include their own government”
- “A free people should be an armed people”
- “Firearms stand next in importance to the Constitution itself. They are the people’s “teeth” and a keystone under independence”
- “ The very atmosphere of firearms anywhere and everywhere restricts evil interference; they deserve a place with all that’s good”
- “When the government takes away citizen’s right to bear arms it becomes the citizen’s duty to take away the governments right to govern”
Thomas Jefferson
- “No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms”
- “The beauty of the Second Amendment is that it will not be needed until they try to take it”
- “Those that hammer their guns into plows will plow for those that do not”
James Madison: “Americans have the right and advantage of being armed unlike citizens of other countries whose governments are afraid to trust the people with arms”
George Mason: “To disarm the people is the best and most effective way to enslave them”
The logic of our Founding Fathers who survived and won a war with the greatest power in the world at the time to win their freedom is impressive and impeccable. Their goal was to pass this freedom down to us and future generations. Hopefully you are impressed with their logic so far. So let me share a few more points of incredible logic that they gave us to help protect our freedom and our great republic for many generations:
George Washington
- “It is the citizens choice, and depends upon their conduct, whether they will be respectable and prosperous, or contemptable and miserable as a Nation. This is the time of political probation; this is the time when the eyes of the world are upon them”
- “If the freedom of speech is taken away then dumb and silent we may be led like sheep to the slaughter”
- “True religion and good morals are the only solid foundation of public liberty and happiness”
John Adams:
- “Those who trade liberty for security have neither”
- “Remember that democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There was never a democracy yet that did not commit suicide”
- “Our Constitution was made only for moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other”
Benjamin Franklin
- “The man who trades freedom for security neither deserves nor will ever receive either”
- “The Constitution only gives people the right to pursue happiness. You have to catch it yourself”
- “God helps those who help themselves”
- “Make yourself sheep and the wolves will eat you”
Thomas Jefferson
- “Democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those that are not”
- “A government that is big enough to give you everything you want is strong enough to take away everything that you have”
Hopefully this quick summary of the brilliance of our Founding Fathers in their own words will help motivate you to do a little research on why and how they gave us our magnificent Constitution and Bill of Rights and what we all can do to preserve those glorious gifts for our children and grandchildren. Sadly, socialist Dems and President Joe Biden are relentlessly attacking our Constitution and Bill of Rights so that they can tell us how to live our lives as all tyrannies do. As John Adams warned us, over the last 2,400 years since Athens invented democracy, there has not been a democracy yet that hasn’t committed suicide. He should know, I have been to his home and saw his library of 14,000 books he read to study the 2,400 year history of democracy so he could write the constitution of Massachusetts which is the oldest continuous state constitution on Earth and was used as a foundation of the U.S. Constitution which is the oldest continuous national constitution on Earth. I will end this piece with a quote from my ancestor Robert Morris who signed the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution and was known as the “Financier of the Revolution”, “I would rather die like a lion than live like a lamb”. We all need to fight to protect our freedom and the glory of our great republic!
