SPRINGFIELD – State Rep. Chris Miller (R-Oakland) spoke on the Illinois House floor Wednesday about the need for the US and the state of Illinois to rise up in support of Israel as they are "under fire from Hamas, the progressive left and the media," he said.
“I absolutely condemn the actions of Hamas, which is a terrorist organization,” Miller said. “America has stood side by side with Israel in support of freedom and liberty. We must stand with our allies during this crisis. We cannot let extremism win. The Nation of Israel is committed to peace. The majority of Palestinians are committed to peace. Hamas is committed to violence and extremism and they must be condemned.”
Hamas has launched about 2,800 rockets on Israel – all aimed at civilian targets. Israel’s Iron Dome has saved the lives of countless civilians.
“Hamas’ unwarranted violence and extremism should not be tolerated,” Miller said. “There are parts of Israel where kids play on underground playground equipment because it is too dangerous for them to play outside. Imagine living like that. Hamas is deliberately putting innocent people in harm’s way and they should be condemned for their actions.”
Miller spoke on the floor of the House of Representatives urging his colleagues to join him in supporting Israel:
