Commentary by Nancy Thorner -
Washington Post columnist George Will made his return to ABC’s This Week on Sunday, May 23, 2021, where he suggested that the January 6 Capitol riot was an equal “shock to the system” as 9/11, a coordinated terror attack that killed 3,000 people.
Mr. Will's comparison is something you might have heard on MSNBC or CNN. In fact, a lot of lefties have already made this point.
House votes for Jan. 6th Commission
The House on Wednesday evening, May 19, 2021, voted to create an independent, bipartisan commission to investigate the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol, but the bill's fate in the Senate appears imperiled with top Republican leaders opposed to a deal crafted by negotiators in both parties.
In a 252-175 vote, lawmakers advanced a bill that would empower a panel with subpoena power to study the riots, what led up to them and how to prevent further attacks. Most Republicans, including
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy of California, opposed the legislation, but 35 voted with Democrats to establish such a commission.

A few of the thirty-five Republicans who voted for the commission are perennial Trump opponents including Liz Cheney, Adam Kinzinger, John Katko and Fred Upton, so their votes are attributable to their long running personal animosity toward Donald Trump and the voters who supported him.
For Illinois residents, they must remember the names of Rodney Davis and Adam Kinzinger. Write them down so that when the time comes for the next election, you DO NOT vote for or support these traitors.
The above thirty-five Republicans believed they are being right-minded by supporting the Democrat plan to get to the bottom of what occurred on January 6, 2021. However, Democrats are going to use this commission to help them win the 2022 midterm elections. As to what will come out of the Commission led by Democrats,
Trump will be found to be behind it all. We know he wasn't and that he even tried to prevent it from happening and stop it when it was happening.

Journalist Michele Malkin presents truth
Wrote Malkin: "If you listen to Democrats, every last one of them, you think that nothing was being done about the breach of the US. Capitol on Jan. 6th."
“Never mind that the FBI was all out with hunts and raids across 44 states, never mind the continued detention of an unknown number of Trump supporters, never mind the more than 2000 criminal prosecutions against nearly 500 Americans arrested over the past 4 months. Absolutely, nothing is being done!”
“The partisan Democrats see their anti-Trump partisans. Shamefully, many of them are in the Republican Party to get to the bottom of Jan. 6th. Let's throw untold millions of tax dollars at a dog and pony show.”
“That arbiter of fairness and neutrality, Senator Chuck Schumer, who wants to punish every last Trump supporter who went to Jan. 6th capitol protest to be put on a no-fly list, yes, he'll be fair.”
"Principled Republicans are right to oppose this charade and the continued weaponization of Jan. 6th. It's not about finding the truth. It's about foisting the same old false narrative about conservatives on the pubic; it's about holding every Republican and Trump supporters accountable for violent and reckless actions of a few. Of course, all law breakers must be held responsible.”
“Donald Trump is right. . . This is a Democrat trap and as he put it, '"Unless the murders, riots, and fire bombing in Portland, Minneapolis, Seattle, Chicago, and New York are also going to be studied, this discussion should be ended immediately."'
Trump urged Republicans to get smarter, to which Mrs. Malkin pronounced "A-men" and suggested the following:
“First, they should be united publicly in demanding answers of January 6th protestor Republican Ashley Babbitt, shoot by Capitol police.”
“Republicans should also be united in raising the alarm over the January 6th abusive treatment of protestors. Some are held in solitary confinement, to which even Elizabeth Warren and Dick Durbin have spoken out against.”
“Democrats are milking January 6th and are paying lip service to Truth, Justice, and the American Way by throwing all three of these precious principles under the bus. And now they want to censor anyone who stands in their way.”
“Get tough, get loud, and fight Republicans. Silence is complacency.”
Capitol riot narrative destroyed
“This is great news for those charged with the building, as a vast majority can now plead entrapment. Those who may have actually broken into the Capitol and who committed vandalism could still be in trouble."
"But consider this. people who were admitted into the Capitol by the police and who did not commit any other crimes cannot be prosecuted."
"Anyone not on video forcing their way into the Capitol could also claim they entered with the permission of the police and those who committed acts of vandalism but weren’t caught on video could also plead entrapment."
