By Nancy Thorner -
Jeanne Ives was the guest speaker for the June meeting of the Republican Assembly of Lake County on June 15, 2021. Its purpose is to recruit, educate, train, and motivate individuals to run for public office who are irrevocably committed to uphold and fight for Constitutional principles and the preservation of the Republic, State and Country.
During her time in the IL House, Jeanne demonstrated not only a willingness to lead on difficult issues and question powerful House leaders, but she also had an insightful understanding of policy. During her tenure she focused on bringing about true pension and tax reform in the state, government transparency, and advocating for school choice.
Following the Pledge and a prayer by Chair Glen Garamoni, Ives was introduced by Garamoni.
Ives speaks
Ives spoke initially about her lost 2020 election bid. She was a candidate for U.S. House in Illinois's 6th congressional district but lost to incumbent Democrat Rep. Sean Casten. Casten received 51.5 percent of the vote to Ives’ 46.7 percent. Ives lamented how one of the worst candidates could have won. She also found it difficult to understand how 51% of voter could believe we must get rid of oil and gas or that higher taxes are the solution to problems.
Ives even lost in DuPage County, which used to be one of the most Republican counties in the nation until people from Chicago started moving into the county, bringing their politics with them.
Founding of Breakthrough.com
Jeanne updated RALC members on the progress she is making as founder of Breakthrough Ideas, a non-profit dedicated to disseminating current news in a accurate manner and holding mainstream media to account.
About Breakthrough from a news release: "Breakthrough was founded on February 23, 2021 –with a fresh take on how to bring together and educate networks of suburban voters and students, former state representative Jeanne Ives and Kathleen Murphy, a Republican communication strategist, have co-founded Breakthrough Ideas, a 501c4 organization. Today, Breakthrough Ideas, officially launched its web platform with a channel trailer, titled “Breakthrough.”
As Murphy related at the time, "COVID forced us to build our own media platform in the 2020 race in order to reach people. We’re taking what we learned, building it out and offering that same capability to taxpayer-focused advocates.
Breakthrough Ideas also features a youth program that seeks to empower the next generation of leaders. The organization will additionally conduct grassroots projects and comprehensive messaging research.
Ives spoke about the success of Breakthrough in only four months since its founding.
When Breakthrough hosted Steve Moore, 250 people showed up, indicating there was an appetite for people to get together.
At an event featuring Evita Duffy to talk with the youth, well over 100 people showed up. After being targeted on campus for her political views, Evita has become a free speech advocate. She founded a conservative newsletter at the University Of Chicago.
The most recent event featured Don Tracy, Chairman of the IL GOP on June 29, 2021, who will spoke about the future of the GOP.
Ives stressed the need for easy talking point to inform people what to do to and say to become active participants in fighting measures, such as CRT, that do not reflect good policy. Three steps were given: 1) Here is what is going on, 2) give evidence, and (3) this is what you are going to do.
Redistricting maps for state legislatures
The former state rep also spoke about redistricting maps for the state legislature.
When Gov. J.B. Pritzker on Friday, June 4, 2021 signed into law the new disputed maps of districts for the state legislature, he fixed the boundaries of political power in Illinois for the next decade, Ives said.
Pritzker’s action defied an earlier pledge that he would reject any map drawn by legislative leaders or their surrogates.
The maps, as drawn by Democrats who control the General Assembly, are designed to give Democrats a leg up in keeping that control into the future. As Ives related: "No districts will force sitting House Democrats to face off, while the new map creates seven districts that will pit 14 incumbent Republicans against one other."
Ives further touched on her new election integrity project in Dupage County. An example cited: It was found that 121 persons had voted in person who were over 104 years of age, who had voted only in 2020.
Bill SB 818
Discussed also was Bill SB 818 requiring that any school district teaching sex education must use the National Sex Educational Standards. Ives stressed that action be taken immediately by contacting your school board, superintendent, principal, and Legislators to request that Governor Pritzker veto the legislation. Tell them their failure to pass a resolution opposing SB818 can only mean they agree with the sexualization of young kids.
Please go to this website to read Stop the Sexualization of our Young Children! You will be astounded and angered at what children would be exposed to starting at Grades K-2. Critical Race Theory would also be pushed via the sex education program. In a question posed to Ives about how to get out the Republican message, she related: "Tell more emotional stories to make a point, go door-to-door, and have a consistent strategy. And money does matter!
College of Lake County proposes a blueprint for Critical Race Theory
This is the blueprint for instituting Critical Race Theory at the College of Lake County built on the intellectual framework of identity-based Marxism. Instead of class conflict, we have identity-based conflict, where anyone who self-identifies as a member of a “marginalized” group, is oppressed by everyone else, fostering an entire generation of victims.
Fortunately, the vote didn't take place at the June 22, 2021 board meeting of CLC.
There is still time to sign this citizen petition against the hiring of a new Diversity Equity & Inclusion Administrator at the CLC. Sign the petition here.
