CHICAGO – Earlier this week, Illinois Governor JB Pritzker officially announced he plans to run for re-election – something everyone in Illinois politics already knew – and three announced IL GOP gubernatorial primary contenders responded.
GOP gubernatorial primary candidate Gary Rabine, a businessman based in Schaumburg, Illinois said:
The last two and a half years have been a disaster for Illinois on JB Pritzker’s watch. Governor Pritzker has raised taxes, increased spending, and signed into law some of the most radical, far-left legislation in the nation. When Pritzker didn’t get his income tax increase, he raised taxes and regulations at a record pace to dominate the highest taxed citizens in America. All this isn’t enough as Pritzker threatens to pursue higher income tax again if elected to a second term.
JB Pritzker doesn’t mention in his announcement his leadership in outmigration or that Illinois has the worst credit rating of all 50 states, even with the billions in federal bailouts.
Under Pritzker, our state has become one of the most violent in America with 385 homicides and 1,897 shootings midway through 2021. A great leader would not sleep until this tragic environment was changed.
The people of Illinois cannot afford four more years of JB Pritzker. I am confident, that in 2022, we will reject him and his radical agenda that is driving our state into unacceptable insolvency and violence.
Illinois State Senator Darren Bailey (R-Xenia), who was the first GOP candidate to announce his effort to unseat Pritzker in 2022, said Monday evening:
Today our failed, liberal Governor JB Pritzker announced he's going to attempt to buy another election. Billionaires like Pritzker cannot relate to the struggles of working Illinoisans and families. He doesn't understand the damage his lockdowns did to small businesses, mental health, and working families across the state. He doesn't understand his war on police has fueled the war on our streets and made our communities less safe. He doesn't understand how high taxes, regulations, and unfunded mandates from Springfield are forcing our families, neighbors, businesses, and jobs out of the state.” Bailey stated.
We cannot afford another four years of Pritzker's weak leadership and failed, liberal agenda. My campaign is a grassroots movement fueled by thousands of working Illinoisans across the state who, like me, are passionate about the future of Illinois. As a farmer, I'm used to working long, hard hours and can promise you that no one in this campaign will outwork my team and me, and I know we will fire JB Pritzker next November and start to turn Illinois around.
It's time we used some conservative common sense to reduce taxes, restore respect to law enforcement, protect neighborhoods, and pass substantial ethics reform in Springfield to hold politicians accountable. It's time we had a Governor who defended individual freedoms and focused on getting our state growing again by promoting small businesses and opportunities that will finally restore Illinois as the economic engine of the Midwest.
Former State Senator Paul Schimpf, who is seeking the IL GOP's nomination in 2022, said:
Governor Pritzker's reelection announcement today means the voters of Illinois will face a stark choice about the future of our state in 2022. Under the Pritzker Leadership Deficit, he has failed to stand up to corruption, failed to protect our veterans and families, and failed to help overtaxed Illinoisans. In three years, JB Pritzker has demonstrated he has neither the vision nor the leadership skills to unite our state. Simply put, Illinoisans deserve better–they deserve a leader with commonsense who will renew our state.
The next IL GOP gubernatorial primary will be held in June, 2022.
