SPRINGFIELD – State Representative Adam Niemerg (R-Dieterich) says despite numerous attempts, the Illinois Department of Public Health has failed to provide the number of cases and hospitalizations of children affected by COVID-19.
“The official representing Dr. Ezike and the IDPH, Dr. Sarah Patrick, publicly promised that she could provide those numbers within two days, and it has now been eight days so far and no real data,” declared Rep. Adam Niemerg. “This refusal to provide transparency to parents and school boards is unacceptable and the taxpayers of Illinois deserve to know the facts!”
Rep. Niemerg’s request of the actual number of cases by region of the state will help local education officials, parents, and school boards know the real level of mitigation possibly needed in school settings and the data could either confirm or refute the attempted mandates by the Governor, the IDPH and the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) on children, the press release says.
