By Nancy Thorner -
Republicans and Democrat lawmakers and former Obama officials have criticized Biden's handling of the Afghanistan situation. A former ambassador to Afghanistan under Obama, Ryan Crocker, said the Biden administration had "a total lack of coordinated, post-withdrawal planning" and is now suffering a "self-inflicted wound."
Jihad Watch Editor, Robert Spencer pointed out: "If Sharia were as benign as Islamic spokesmen and Leftists in the West insist, no one would be desperately trying to get out of Afghanistan."
On Monday, August 16, 2021, thousands of desperate Afghans attempted to flee at Kabul's international airport. Videos on social media show people running across the tarmac as U.S. troops fired warning shots in the air. Another shows Afghans who had clung to a C-17 transport plane plunging to their death as it took off. See people clinging to U.S. jets leaving Afghanistan disaster.
Biden's plan for withdrawal (if he ever had a plan) was unconscionable. Biden should have first taken out American citizens. Now Biden is sending back troops to rescue American citizens.
Tens of thousands of Americans (perhaps as many as 40,000) still can't get out of Afghanistan. Earlier this week, a notice sent from the Biden regime to those requesting evacuation from Afghanistan encouraged them to make their way to Kabul's international airport. But it
added in bold letters:
PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT THE UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT CANNOT GUARANTEE YOUR SECURITY AS YOU MAKE THIS TRIP.
Present situation in Afghanistan
Geller likewise reported that the
Taliban has started a door to door search looking for govt officials, former police & security forces members & those who worked with the United States and other western countries.
“Afghans pouring into Kabul and those still in Taliban-held areas say they have witnessed unprovoked attacks on civilians and executions of captured soldiers.”
Muslim refugees before Americans?
Pentagon press secretary John Kirby
confirmed to Fox News, the administration will not give priority evacuation to Americans in Afghanistan over Afghans applying for visas.
As Breitbart News
reported, the State Department and Defense Department have said there are “thousands” of Americans left in Afghanistan.
“Once we get more airlift out of Kabul, we’re going to put as many people on those planes as we can,”
Kirby told Fox News:
“There will be a mix, not just American citizens, but perhaps some Afghan [Special Immigrant Visa] applicants as well. We’re going to focus on getting people out of the country, then sorting it out at the next stop. It’s not going to be just Americans first, then [Special Immigrant Visa] applicants.”
According to an anonymous source at the Defense Department who spoke to Fox News, the administration is
considering fast-tracking some 30,000 Afghan nationals into the U.S., sending them to Fort McCoy in Monroe County, Wisconsin, and Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas, using the Special Immigrant Visa (SIV) program.
The Biden administration, though, is seemingly
expanding its intake of Afghans beyond those who would qualify for SIV status — typically interpreters and their family members — to include thousands who worked for military contractors, U.S.-based media outlets, or a non-governmental organization (NGO) in Afghanistan.
Kirby said the Defense Department wants "to have the capacity to get up to several thousand immediately and want to be prepared for the potential of tens of thousands."
In July, the Biden administration
resettled about 200 Afghan interpreters and their family members at Fort Lee in Prince George County, Virginia, before they are resettled across the U.S.
House Democrats and Republicans
passed legislation that allows Afghans seeking SIVs to bypass standard medical exam requirements before they arrive in the U.S. Only 46 House Republicans opposed the plan.
Unvetted Afghan nationals
“The situation unfolding in Afghanistan is heartbreaking, and it brings important, immediate lessons for America,” said Ed Martin, president of Phyllis Schlafly Eagles. “It is abundantly clear that Joe Biden is a weak and feckless leader. His administration does not believe in American military superiority or national sovereignty.” Conservatives have long advocated for America to exit our endless wars in the Middle East. However, Biden has proved exactly how not to do it, putting thousands of lives at risk in the process."
“Make no mistake,” continued Martin, “military superiority isn’t simply the measure of weapons, armies, and technologies. Military superiority is being willing to deploy that strength to quickly end any conflict that American troops are called to. Every nation should understand that willingness. The United States was once feared and respected across the globe; nobody fears Joe Biden."
“But an even more pressing question faces America. A huge push is mounting to hurriedly bring tens of thousands of Afghan nationals here — unvetted. That’s right, the globalist neo-cons and leftists are demanding that we take in an untold number of foreign nationals as refugees."
“The chaos in Afghanistan is devastating to watch,” Martin concluded, “but we must not allow its architects to erode our sovereignty with a flood of unvetted foreign nationals. Our borders are already under siege. Our military superiority has been reduced to just a memory. The Biden administration has made us a laughing stock.”
- The terrorist watch list has law enforcement and national security information concerning people believed to be involved in terrorist activities. As of 2017, an estimated 1.2 million people were on the watch list, including 4,600 U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents.
- Immigration officials won’t say how many people on the terrorist watchlist have attempted to cross the southern border — legally or illegally, because “any data would be considered law enforcement sensitive.”
- Broadly, the agency said that “encounters of known and suspected terrorists at our borders are very uncommon.
Radical Islam threats in Europe
The fall of Kabul has reopened divisions over immigration in European countries as government leaders brace themselves for an inevitable surge in refugees.
EU countries fear a repeat of 2015 and early 2016, when more than 1 million migrants, mostly from Syria but also Afghanistan and Iraq, arrived in Europe, sparking political turbulence within member states and across the bloc. The response was to make deals with Turkey and Libya to stem the flow.
Leaders of
Albania and Kosovo said on Sunday they had accepted an American request to temporarily host political refugees seeking entry to the US.
It comes amid concerns that Nato members are not responding quickly enough to evacuate Afghan citizens who are in danger of reprisals from the
Taliban.
Possible terror threats here at home?
Their often poor integration creates a large pool of disaffected young people vulnerable to
radicalization and extremist violence, though of course only a small number of them turn to terrorism.
In contrast, the U.S. has a much lower proportion of Muslim residents – about
3.3 million people, or 1 percent of the population – and they tend to be
well-integrated into American society, with educational attainment, household income and employment levels comparable to those of the general public.
I might be considered a racist for saying so. Even so, it wouldn't take many unvetted Muslim refugees brought into this nation to instigate terror attacks across this nation. And it's not out of the question for Islamic terrorists to gain access into this nation through our porous southern border.
