CHICAGO – The only state in the whole Midwest to require mask wearing is Illinois, the Multistate.us website reports.
Currently, nine state and Washington DC have mask requirements. The statewide mandates are in effect in Illinois, Washington, New Mexico, Oregon, Hawaii, California and DC.
In New York and Connecticut, vaccinated persons are not required to wear masks while unvaccinated are.
And in Nevada, every county but one mandates COVID masks for its residents.
That leaves 41 states – the vast majority of the nation – unmasked.
