SPRINGFIELD – As of Wednesday, March 9, five Republicans have submitted petitions to get on the June 28th GOP gubernatorial primary ballot – with at least one more expected by the end of business at the Illinois Board of Elections on March 14th.
Former state Senator Paul Schimpf and his running mate Carol Schofield, state Senator Darren Bailey and his LG teammate Stephanie Trussell, businessman Gary Rabine and his teammate Aaron Del Mar, Aurora Mayor Richard Irvin with LG pick state Rep. Avery Bourne were joined by unknown candidate Wheaton's Emily Johnson and her running mate from Orland Park Brett Mahlen are now listed on the State Board of Elections' website.
Not yet submitting petitions, but expected to do so, is entrepreneur Jesse Sullivan and his LG pick Kathleen Murphy.
