Via Press Release from the Irvin/Bourne campaign -
AURORA – Friday the Irvin for Illinois campaign is rolling out a new list of co-chairs; a group of over 50 grassroots Republican leaders who are endorsing Richard Irvin and Avery Bourne’s campaign to take back Illinois from out of control crime, corruption, and Democrat overspending. The new list adds to the continuous growing support of now over 200 leaders — including 18 current or former county sheriffs, 27 current mayors, and 17 state legislators.
Highlighting Mayor Irvin & Representative Bourne’s wide support from the law enforcement community is LaSalle County Sheriff & Past-President of the Illinois Sheriffs’ Association Sheriff Tom Templeton.
“I’m honored to join with 17 other current and former sheriffs in endorsing Richard Irvin’s campaign for Governor. Richard understands the unprecedented challenges we face in law enforcement better than anyone else in this race and is the only candidate capable of defeating J.B. Pritzker so we can rollback 4 years of disastrous radical policies that have made all of our communities less safe,” said Templeton.
Wheaton Mayor Phil Suess noted Richard Irvin’s proven success at the local level, leading the City of Aurora.
“Experience is important. Given the Mayor’s experience in running the state’s second largest city with an emphasis on safety, fiscal responsibility and results that benefit all community members, Mayor Irvin will provide the leadership our state needs now,” said Phil Suess, Mayor of Wheaton.
Irvin continues to gain support of law enforcement leaders including Jo Daviess County Sheriff Kevin Turner, because of his history of standing with police in Aurora.
“Mayor Irvin has proven to be the real deal,” said Turner. “His record of supporting and working with law enforcement is strong and I have no doubt that as Governor, he will work with law enforcement in every corner of our state in our shared mission to make our communities safe.”
Andy Wheeler, Kankakee County Board Chairman is endorsing Richard Irvin for Governor because of the success he’s had as Mayor of Aurora and believes the same can be done throughout the state.
“Richard Irvin has turned around the City of Aurora by reducing crime and providing real tax relief to residents, which is why we need his proven success for the entire state of Illinois,” said Wheeler. “J.B. Pritzker has driven families and businesses right out of our state, and it’s only with new leadership that Richard Irvin and Avery Bourne can provide that we can truly revitalize Illinois.”
Aurora Mayor and gubernatorial candidate Richard Irvin released the following statement regarding today’s endorsement:
“As Representative Bourne and I travel across Illinois, we are proud to gain support and keep the momentum going to take our state back from the crime, high taxes and corruption under J.B. Pritzker. Families and businesses throughout our state are desperate for change and we are committed to deliver that by fighting to cut taxes, reduce crime and eliminate corruption when we win in November.”
