The districts that are currently represented by Republicans were not mentioned in the IL GOP's statement – such as Darin LaHood, who won the nomination in IL's 16th CD, and Mary Miller, who defeated GOP incumbent Rodney Davis in the 15th.
The IL GOP's statement sent out by Communications Director Joe Hackler:
Republicans in the US House are just four seats shy of a majority. In Illinois, the National Republican Campaign Committee (NRCC) has identified six target congressional contests that are prime Republican pick-up opportunities. It’s safe to say the battle to take back the House runs right through Illinois.
In tonight’s Republican primary contests, the AP has called the races in each of those six seats. Our Republican nominees in target districts are:
- Keith Pekau – IL-6 (Offensive)
- Chris Dargis – IL-8 (Offensive)
- Catalina Lauf – IL-11 (Offensive)
- Regan Deering – IL-13 (Open)
- Scott Gryder – IL-14 (Offensive)
- Esther Joy King – IL-17 (Offensive)
Illinois Republican Party Chairman Don Tracy has released the following statement responding to tonight’s results:
“Nancy Pelosi and the Socialist Squad’s days in power are numbered. Illinois alone can provide the margin we need in flipping seats to take back the majority in the House. I am confident we will do just that. From a decorated combat veteran and mayor to a next-generation woman of color, our crop of candidates in these target races are extraordinary and bring with them a diverse set of life stories and backgrounds. The Illinois Republican Party looks forward to helping them secure victory in November."
