America’s Mayor, Rudy Guiliani, was the keynote speaker last week at a fundraiser for Scott Kaspar running for the Republican nomination in the Illinois 6th congressional district. The event was held at the Drake Hotel in Oakbrook, Illinois with over 200 people attending. Former New York Police Commissioner Bernard Kerik was also a speaker. Chicago radio host Mark Vargas was the master of ceremonies.
Guiliani had a great speech, which the crowd really enjoyed. Much of his focus was on fighting crime and his efforts when he was mayor in New York. Chicago has growing crime issues with car jacking, retail thief, assaults, CTA crime, shootings and homicides. Last year Chicago had 845 homicides including 80 students from Chicago Public Schools shot and killed all by after school hours or during remote learning. In this week's news, there is much attention to “school shootings” yet little about Chicago crime.
In December, there was a march to bring attention to the 845 murdered in Chicago in 2021 –

From the Scott Kaspar campaign website: “Mayor Rudy Giuliani endorses Scott Kaspar at standing room only event in Oak Brook"
This past Wednesday evening, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani joined me on stage in front of a standing-room only crowd at The Drake Hotel in Oakbrook to officially endorse my campaign for Congress! And it’s a moment that I will never forget.
But that’s not all.
Former New York City Police Commissioner Bernard Kerik – the most decorated police commissioner in history and the chairman of my Public Safety Task Force also joined us.
It’s no secret, public safety is the most important issue in this race. Every day the news is filled with stories about another carjacking or shooting. And sadly, our communities aren’t safe anymore.
And that’s why I am so proud to receive the endorsement of Mayor Rudy Giuliani – America’s Mayor because what Mayor Giuliani and Commissioner Kerik accomplished in New York City in terms of driving down crime in a major city has never been matched! In fact, when Mayor Bloomberg took office, he kept the Giuliani-Kerik polices in place – leading to further reductions in crime!
Think about it, when Mayor Giuliani took office, there were 2,200 murders a year in New York City. And when Mayor Giuliani and Commissioner Kerik left office in December of 2001, the murder rate was below 600!
I am also honored that Republican gubernatorial candidates Gary Rabine and State Sen. Darren Bailey joined us. Tom DeVore, who’s running for Attorney General was there too!
If you missed the speeches, I’ll be sending soundbytes in the days to come.
Then Kaspar asked for donation to his campaign.
Gary Franchi with the Next News Network has some good coverage on the event
