On Sunday, President Donald Trump took to his social media website Truth Social and shared an article published by Illinois Review that called out President Joe Biden for wanting Trump to sign Illinois’ optional candidate “loyalty oath” that claims among other things that he’s a resident of the state despite having a permanent residence at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida.
On Saturday, Biden said that President Donald Trump did not sign Illinois’ optional “loyalty oath” because it included language that candidates on the ballot would “not directly or indirectly teach or advocate the overthrow of the government of the United States…by force or any unlawful means.”
But there’s one very important piece of information that Biden deliberately left out of his deceptive and misleading statement: the candidate also pledges that they are a resident of the State of Illinois – and making such a claim and signing it would have opened Trump up to legal challenges and lawsuits surrounding his ballot access.
Late on Saturday, the Trump campaign immediately began sharing the article on their official social media accounts, and then on Sunday, Trump shared it on his personal Truth Social account.
On Sunday, IR’s website experienced record-breaking traffic and the article was viewed by millions within a span of 12 hours.
“It’s an honor to have President Donald Trump – the national grassroots leader paying attention to what we write, but then to go a step further and share our article was unbelievable,” said IR Editor-in-Chief Mark Vargas. “To see the response and all the traffic generated in such a short period of time certainly solidifies our status as the leading voice of the conservative grassroots movement here in Illinois.”
In national polls, Trump is leading Biden in key swing states creating a nightmare scenario for Democrats. Trump continues to dominate the Republican presidential primary field and he’s leading his fellow challengers by a staggering 32 points in Iowa.
Illinois’ primary election is March 19th.
