On Tuesday, the U.S. House of Representatives failed to muster a simple majority to impeach Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Majorkas.
Many pundits blame the famous weakness of elected Republicans for this; but there were only three defections out of 219. As congressional vote-whipping goes, that’s not bad.
The real question is, why didn’t any Democrats join this vote?
We know, we know. Because Democrats don’t do that. Because Democrats “won’t help the Republicans.” Because Democrats support this non-enforcement of the border. Yes, we know the reasons.
But that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t talk about them. It doesn’t really help when the answers to every important question aren’t discussed because after all, “it goes without saying.”
It’s time to start saying it. It’s time to start calling them out on it. On everything.
Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Majorkas is – by definition – the very textbook example of an impeachment case. His job is to secure the homeland. It’s literally in his job title. And yet, what has he done in office?
He has consciously, consistently, tirelessly worked to ensure that our southern border is as porous as possible.
The Biden regime inherited a reasonably secure border in January 2021. Despite the Trump administration failing to finish building all the stretches of wall that they intended to build, a solid combination of fences, walls, natural barriers and robust law enforcement had made great strides and had reduced the number of illegal alien crossings to a mere fraction of the number flowing in during the Obama years.
All the Biden regime had to do was leave it alone.
But the Biden regime didn’t want an enforced border; as we all know, they wanted an endless parade of illegal foreigners – not just from Latin America but from all over the world – to pour into this country (some 37,000 Chinese nationals were identified in the mix crossing in from Mexico in 2023 alone!).
The DNC knows they need non-Americans to do the one job that real Americans won’t do: vote for Democrats. So they flung open the floodgates as soon as they got their hot little hands on the levers of power in January 2021.
There was a legal option available to them: propose a bill in Congress to massively increase legal immigration. While inadvisable and certainly destructive, this would at least have been legal. They didn’t choose to do that. They knew the public outcry would be deafening, and it could never pass. So they didn’t even try to do it legally. Wise laws limiting immigration and requiring a strictly controlled border remain in place.
And so the Biden regime appointed a Secretary of Homeland Security with the specific task of dismantling as many safeguards on the border as possible, to enable illegal border crossers by the millions each year. Consider:
Secretary Majorkas, knowing that the law requires refugees to stay in the first country they arrive in after fleeing their home country, nevertheless allows these millions of non-Mexicans to claim refugee status even though their act of passing through Mexico voids the claim of refugee status by definition.
Secretary Majorkas, knowing that countless children are matched up with people who are not relatives on their way to the border for nefarious reasons, often for human trafficking, nevertheless has refused every call for solid proofs of family claims, such as DNA testing or documentary evidence from these illegal “families” – even going so far as to provide federal resources to transport these trafficked children into the communities their captors select.
Secretary Majorkas, knowing that the percentage of released gate-crashers who actually show up for their refugee status hearings is virtually zero, has nevertheless refused to reconsider the policy of temporarily accepting all claims and allowing them all into the country – free and unwatched – on the ludicrous trust that they will show up for their day in court, essentially using our court system itself as a patsy in the process.
Secretary Majorkas, knowing that most of these gate-crashers (maybe not all, but certainly most) are largely indigent, unvaccinated and disease-ridden, nevertheless authorizes their entry into the country, to spread the tropical diseases (and other maladies) that the unvaccinated poor typically bring with them to any first world country. Despite being part of a regime that demands that real Americans pay our own hospital bills and get vaccinated for everything from mumps and rubella to covid, he has thrown such rules out the window, endangering us all by both spreading disease and increasing our healthcare costs.
And it is such unnecessary increases in costs that are so outrageous and unforgivable. Secretary Majorkas, knowing that the nation is essentially bankrupt and our people are overwhelmed by crippling Bidenflation, nevertheless supervises this deluge of needy people, overwhelming the social safety nets of our metro areas, overwhelming the police forces of our inner cities, overwhelming the housing market, even to the extent of causing cities and states to pay a mint in daily costs to house them.
We have states like California paying for thousands of hotel rooms every day, cities like New York seeing their residents and even their police terrorized by these imported criminals, counties like Illinois’ Cook County turning over schools, parks airport terminals and even police stations, to the public housing of tens of thousands of non-citizens. All this for criminal strangers, while millions of honorable US citizens and honorable, legal immigrants are being impoverished, rendered homeless by an economy in freefall and a malicious leviathan.
Even some Democrat legislators and Democrat mayors have broken ranks just long enough to admit on hot mics that this situation is crippling their cities and abusing the very Democrat voters who install these Democrats in office. It’s a shameless double-cross of the highest order.
And yet – the Democrats in the United States House of Representatives circled the wagons, refusing to support the most open-and-shut case in the history of impeachments.
This tells us more about the Democratic Party than anything else. How powerful must be their ties, how strong their threats, how inescapable their handcuffs, if all 212 Democrat Congressmen uniformly stab their own constituents in the back and leave this purposeful destroyer in office?
Some have pointed out that if we impeached Majorkas, then the Biden-Harris handlers would just appoint someone else just as bad. And yes, they probably would. But the Senate could refuse him confirmation, just as they should have rejected this one.
Convict people of muggings and rapes, and yes, other criminals will still commit muggings and rapes. Convict people of murder, and yes, other killers will still commit homicides. But that’s no reason to stop prosecuting muggings, rapes, and murders. You must keep prosecuting; whenever confronted with a guilty party, you must still vote to convict.
And that’s what should have happened in the House this week. When given the opportunity to convict the Biden-Harris regime’s veritable poster child for this invasion of indigents and criminals, the House Democrats – to a man – refused to take advantage of this opportunity to throw him out.
In so doing, they not only violated their oaths to support the Constitution; they have cheated their own constituents.
And now these 212 Democrat incumbents – at least the ones still running for reelection and facing Republican opposition – have one monster of an issue for their law-and-order opponents to rightly use against them in this 2024 campaign.
Such swamp creatures have no business calling themselves representatives in a Constitutional republic.
