U.S. Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-TX), who served as White House Physician to Presidents Barack Obama and Donald Trump, spoke with Illinois Review on Wednesday to discuss President Joe Biden’s rapid cognitive decline and the three people involved in one of the greatest health cover-ups in presidential history since Woodrow Wilson: White House Physician Dr. Kevin O’Connor, First Lady Jill Biden and White House Chief of Staff Jeff Zients.
“The president’s physician, the First Lady and the president’s chief of staff should be getting together and figuring out how they’re going to get themselves out of this – this man’s not cognitively fit to be there,” Rep. Jackson shared with this publication. “But the reason why they won’t do this is because it’s not just them, it’s everybody in the West Wing – everybody that works in the White House right now. Their political power, their influence, their authority is tied directly to the fact that he’s President of the United States.”
Rep. Jackson, who knew Biden well when he was Obama’s presidential physician, said Jill Biden in particular always had oversized political ambitions, saying, “Jill Biden wanted to be First Lady more than she wanted her next breath. And that was so obvious at the time – and I think that’s still the case.”
The former White House physician continued, “And they will do anything to keep him in power because his power translates into their power and their authority and their influence – and the day he leaves the White House, they also leave the White House and they no longer have that privilege.”
Woodrow Wilson, who served as the 28th President of the United States from 1913-1921, struggled with serious health issues throughout his lifetime – especially during his time as president. In 1919, he suffered a severe stroke – his second – his first was in 1896 – that left him incapable of fulfilling his duties as president. But the U.S. Surgeon General, who previously served as Wilson’s White House Physician, Dr. Cary Grayson and First Lady Edith Wilson initiated a presidential-style coverup to keep his health issues quiet for as long as possible.
Wilson was prepared to run for a third term despite his obvious health issues, but during the 1920 Democratic National Convention in San Francisco, party leaders decided to go in a different direction – nominating Ohio Gov. James Cox for president and Assistant Secretary of the Navy Franklin D. Roosevelt for vice president instead. Republican Warren G. Harding would go on and win the election and serve as the nation’s 29th president.
In 1988, Biden – then a U.S. Senator, suffered two brain aneurysms that required life-saving surgery. Many health experts and physicians, including Rep. Jackson believes that as a result, Biden suffers from long term damage. “The press should be asking the president’s physician – tell us what the consequences of those two brain aneurysms were and do they have anything to do with what we’re seeing today?”
Jackson has studied Biden’s health issues dating back to 1988 extensively. “He had an aneurysm that bled out into his brain and anytime that happens, all the brain tissue in that area is starved for oxygen and some of it dies. Some of it is injured and some of it dies – that’s what a stroke is.”
Rep. Jackson said Biden’s aneurysms and subsequent brain bleed was a “significant event,” and the long term effects of such an event and the “certain amount of reserve in our brain needed to function appropriately” could have been potentially “knocked out” by the aneurysms and bleeding on the brain – noting that “we’re seeing the results of that. We’re seeing that he’s cognitively disabled.”
An overwhelming majority of voters – nearly 80 percent – believe that Biden’s age and mental fitness remain a top issue going into the November election. The senile president has always been gaffe-prone going back to his decades long career in the Senate – but his physical and mental health remain an issue that concerns most Americans.
Biden appears lost while standing at the presidential podium or delivering remarks while seated at a table, as he holds note cards prepared by aides that he reads verbatim. The presidential note cards also include the names and photos of world leaders that he’s meeting with – leaders he’s known for years – in case he forgets who they are.
The frail president stumbles on his words and even while walking up and down stairs. Just recently, Biden has switched his dress shoes for more comfortable orthopedic shoes, to try and prevent him from tripping and falling – as he’s done repeatedly throughout his time in office. The Commander-in-Chief even uses the baby steps of Air Force One instead of the main staircase, when entering or departing the presidential aircraft – for fear that he’ll trip and stumble again in front of a pool of reporters.
First Lady Jill Biden routinely deflects and gets angry when pressed by reporters on the status of her husband’s mental health condition. In an interview earlier this year with MSNBC, Jill Biden said his age was an “asset” because he’s “lived history.” In February, Biden’s White House Physician Dr. O’Connor said Biden “remains fit to successfully execute the duties of the Presidency.”
Rep. Jackson is keeping an eye on Biden’s mental state and his decisions and how they affect the American people and warned that Members of Congress will not be afraid to bring “people from the White House, including the medical team and the White House Physician before Congress to answer questions about what they did or didn’t know – and what they covered up and what they hid from the American people.”
Jackson concluded with, “that day is coming.”
The Democratic National Convention is here in Chicago August 19-22.
