On Thursday evening, Vice President Kamala Harrris made a fundraising stop at a private home just north of downtown Chicago – the host city for the 2024 Democratic National Convention, and assured attendees gathered under a tent that despite what the polls suggest – the campaign is on track for a big win this November.
“We are winning,” Harris repeatedly assured the crowd as if trying to convince herself that they are, despite what all of the major polls are indicating. “I think it’s very important for us to understand that momentum is on our side.”
The Vice President also repeated a line that President Joe Biden used during his last fundraising stop to Chicago on May 8 – saying that the Trump administration was full of “chaos.” At the Palmer House in downtown Chicago more than a week ago, Biden suggested that chaos was nothing new to Trump, noting,
“But, look, chaos is nothing new for Trump. His presidency was chaos. Trump is trying to make the — the country forget about the dark and unsettling things that he did when he was president. Well, we’re going to not let them forget.”
But Biden’s presidency is the one that can be defined by chaos as the world falls apart under his watch. Since taking office, the chaotic withdrawal in Afghanistan left 13 U.S. service members dead as we left billions of dollars in military equipment for the enemy to seize; Russia invaded Ukraine and Hamas launched the deadliest terror attack in Israel’s 76-year history – killing more than 1,200 innocent civilians and taking more than 250 hostages; and his open border policy is allowing violent and dangerous criminals to cross into our country through our southern border – no questions asked.
Biden has also turned the U.S. Constitution over on its side as Democratic operatives masquerading as prosecutors and judges engage in electoral interference as they target and harass Biden’s chief political opponent and accuse the 45th President of the United States Donald Trump of things that are not crimes. The weaponization of the justice system to go after one man – Donald Trump – to stop him from running for president is unprecedented in America. And powerful Biden supporters are doing everything they can to keep Trump off the campaign trail and in the courthouse, instead.
Trump is leading Biden in virtually every national poll, including in key swing states and key Democratic political operatives including Van Jones, David Axelrod and James Carville have openly admitted that trouble is on the horizon. And with high inflation, every day Americans continue to struggle under Biden’s policies. Since Biden took office, gasoline is up 56 percent; airfare is up 38 percent; the cost of electricity is up 29 percent and groceries are up 21 percent.
In April CNN was reporting that President Trump was leading Biden 49-43. That same polling also suggests that Americans see Trump’s presidency as more favorable as compared to Biden’s – a reality that is creating widespread panic with Democrats. And Biden continues to lose support in Black and Hispanic communities – a traditionally powerful voting bloc for any Democratic candidate.
On Wednesday, both the Biden and Trump campaigns agreed to do two debates on June 27 and September 10. CNN will moderate the first debate and ABC News will moderate the one in September.
