On Wednesday, the Illinois State Rifle Association released a statement offering former U.S. Congressman Adam Kizinger (R-IL) and Missouri Senate candidate Lucas Kunce (D) complimentary firearm safety and training lessons after a Kansas City reporter was accidentally shot on Tuesday afternoon during a campaign event at a private residence.
“After learning about an incident yesterday in Missouri where TV Reporter Ryan Gamboa was accidentally shot during a campaign event in the backyard of a private residence due to U.S. Senate candidate Lucas Kunce (D-MO) and former Congressman Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) violating commonly known safety rules by firing at steel targets in close range with an AR-15 using inappropriate ammunition, the ISRA would like to offer a complimentary firearm and safety training class at our 5-star range in Kankakee, Illinois area – Kinzinger’s hometown.”
The statement then highlighted all of the features of ISRA’s 5-star range, writing,
“We don’t often talk about our range and academy – and we should – because it’s one of the finest facilities anywhere in the country. Over the years, we’ve trained well over 50,000 people, including active-duty military and civilians; National Guard members; people starring in television shows and movies; and Olympic and Junior Olympic team members. Our range has also won numerous awards and certificates of recognition from the National Guard and other respected organizations.”
Gamboa was struck in the arm by shrapnel after the Democrat Senate candidate fired his AR-15 rifle. Although the injuries were minor, a photo shows Gamboa’s bloodied arm wrapped in a bandage. The reporter was sent to a local hospital and he was released a few hours later, however, this didn’t stop the ISRA from expert level trolling as they offered free emergency training to the politicians as well.
“In addition to teaching firearm safety and marksmanship skills, we also teach wound care and First Aid training – something that would have been very useful as they applied bandages to the wounded reporter. We’re glad he is ok and that his injuries were not serious.”
For years, both Kinzinger and Kunce have called for stricter gun control laws and a ban on assault weapons – the very same firearm that they were shooting with on Tuesday. And again, the ISRA didn’t skip a beat, writing,
“Over the last several years, both Lucas Kunce and Adam Kinzinger have called for an “assault weapons” ban, but the irony is that on Tuesday – they were caught firing the exact same type of firearm they want eliminated from gun collections. This is hypocrisy at its finest.”
Kunce has also said he supports red flag laws. He also said that a majority of Missourians – without any evidence, support some form of gun control.
Recent polls show Hawley leading Kunze 54-46.
